NASHVILLE, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Colin Wilson scored the only shootout goal Wednesday to give the Nashville Predators a 2-1 win that extended Minnesota's losing streak to eight games.
Nashville's Pekka Rinne made 35 saves in regulation and overtime, and then stopped three Minnesota attempts in the shootout. Rinne had to make only one shootout save because two Minnesota skaters fumbled away the puck before getting off a shot.
Both the regulation goals came in the third period, with Jordin Tootoo giving Nashville the lead 7 minutes deep in the stanza. Dany Heatley tied it on a wraparound shot with 3:59 to go in regulation.
Nashville played for the first time since it was announced Tuesday that leading scorer Shea Weber would be lost indefinitely with a concussion.
Josh Harding made 24 saves for Minnesota. The Wild's losing streak has come on the heels of seven consecutive victories.
