DETROIT, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Johnny Wilson, who helped the Detroit Red Wings to four Stanley Cups in the 1950s, died Tuesday at age 82, his nephew, Toronto Coach Ron Wilson, said.

Wilson, who played left wing, scored 161 goals and had 171 assists in 688 NHL games with Detroit, Chicago, Toronto and the New York Rangers. He was on the Detroit teams that won Stanley Cup championships in 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1955.

He later coached seven seasons with Los Angeles, Detroit, Colorado and Pittsburgh.

A cause of death wasn't provided, QMI Agency reported.
