DALLAS, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Ty Lawson scored 27 points Monday and the Denver Nuggets handed NBA champion Dallas its second straight loss to start the season, 115-93.
Andre Miller and Al Harrington each added 18 points for the Nuggets, who are coming off a 50-32 season and began the current campaign by hanging a second consecutive loss on the reigning league champs.
Dallas began the lockout-shortened season Sunday with a lackluster loss to Miami in a rematch of last season's NBA Finals, and didn't fare much better Monday. Dirk Nowitzki finished with 20 points, but Lamar Odom -- who scored just four points and was ejected Sunday -- was held to 1-for-10 from the field and managed just six points.
The Nuggets shredded Dallas' defense, firing in nearly 50 percent of their field goal tries and canning 10 three-pointers.
