DALLAS, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Miami's LeBron James struck for 37 points Sunday and the Heat spoiled the Mavericks' championship banner-raising ceremony with 105-94 win over Dallas.
The Mavs commemorated their victory over the Heat in the 2010-11 NBA Finals with a pregame ceremony but the good feelings didn't last long for Dallas in the season openers for both teams.
James went 15-of-19 from the foul line.
Dwyane Wade added 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Miami, which dominated the contest.
The Heat led by as many as 35 points in the one-sided affair.
The Mavericks couldn't get on track throughout the game. Jason Terry led Dallas 23 points and while Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki finished with 21.
Shawn Marion chipped in 12 points for the losers.
Lamar Odom, obtained from the Los Angeles Lakers in December, was ejected in his first game as a Maverick. After being held to four points and going 1-of-6 from the field, he was whistled for two technical fouls late in the third quarter.
Odom was tossed for arguing with the referees following his second charging call of the game.
