
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Rashard Mendenhall rambled for 116 yards and a score Saturday, boosting the playoff-bound Pittsburgh Steelers to a 27-0 whitewash of St. Louis.
Charlie Batch took over for Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback and responded by completing 15-of-22 passes for 208 yards with an interception, hooking up with seven receivers for the Steelers (11-4).
John Clay and Isaac Redman added rushing touchdowns as Pittsburgh won for the fifth time in six games and improved to 7-1 at home.
Roethlisberger sat out the contest while nursing a high ankle sprain sustained two weeks ago.
The Rams' Kellen Clemens was held to just 91 yards passing in his second straight start behind center for the injured Sam Bradford.
St. Louis (2-13) lost its sixth straight contest.
