TORONTO, Dec. 22 (UPI) --
Nazem Kadri, in his first game since being recalled from the American Hockey League, scored the winning goal Thursday in Toronto's 3-2 victory over Buffalo.
Kadri appeared in three games during October before being sent back to the minors. He broke a 2-2 tie 5:52 into the third period with his first goal of the season and the fourth of his 34-game NHL career.
David Steckel and Phil Kessel scored in a span of 62 seconds of the second period to give the Maple Leafs a 2-1 lead, but Derek Roy tied it 1:29 into the third. That set up Kadri for his big goal, giving Toronto its second win in seven games.
Buffalo has dropped three in a row.
James Reimer made 40 saves for the Maple Leafs. Ryan Miller took the loss, stopping 28-of-31 shots.
