NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- The NFL announced Wednesday St. Louis receiver Austin Pettis had been suspended for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

A league representative said Pettis tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

Pettis, a rookie drafted in the third round out of Boise State, will be suspended without pay for the final two games this season and the first two games next year.

He has caught 27 passes for 256 yards for the Rams.
