Mayweather draws 90-day jail sentence

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. must serve 90 days jail for a domestic assault and an altercation with a security guard, a Las Vegas judge ruled Wednesday.

Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa issued a six-month sentence but stayed three months after the undefeated WBC welterweight champion pleaded guilty to misdemeanors in cases involving the mother of three of his children and a security guard, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

The boxer pleaded guilty to one count of battery domestic violence in a September 2010 assault on girlfriend Josie Harris, which was witnessed by one of his sons.

"One unique aspect of this case, that I think is different from the others I see on a regular basis, is the extent that this happened in front of children old enough to know what's happening," Saragosa said.

Mayweather also admitted to two counts of harassment for poking and yelling at a guard over a parking dispute the following month.

The Sun said Mayweather was also ordered to pay $2,500 in fines and to attend a yearlong domestic violence counseling class.

He must also perform 100 hours of community service and avoid further arrests, Saragosa ruled.
