NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Marian Gaborik tallied the go-ahead goal early in the third period Tuesday and the New York Rangers went on to a 4-1 victory over New Jersey.

Gaborik broke a 1-1 tie with a goal 4:45 into the final frame, notching his 18th goal of the season and the 300th of his NHL career.

The Rangers winger added an empty-netter, Carl Hagelin also scored in the third and Artem Anisimov added a marker as New York won for only the third time in seven games.

Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 30-of-31 shots, including all 11 he saw in the final period to earn the win.

Travis Zajac, who had been out due to a torn left Achilles tendon, scored his first goal of the season and Martin Brodeur made 17 saves for the Devils.
