EDMONTON, Alberta, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Drew Miller's goal with less than 5 minutes left in the game Monday lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 decision over Edmonton.

With the score tied 2-2 late in the third period, Niklas Lidstrom unleashed a slap shot from the point that Miller tipped past Nikolai Khabibulin with 4:15 remaining, and the Red Wings hung on for their eighth straight win over the Oilers.

Danny Cleary and Jiri Hudler scored and Jimmy Howard turned aside 21-of-23 shots as Detroit improved to 12-3-0 in its last 15 games.

Ryan Jones and Jordan Eberle scored for Edmonton, which lost for the fourth time in seven contests.
