LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- All-star guard Chris Paul has been traded from the New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers, multiple reports indicated Wednesday.
Citing "two people with knowledge of the situation," the Los Angeles Times reported the Clippers will get Paul and two future second-round draft picks from the Hornets in exchange for guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick.
The trade has been submitted to the NBA for approval, ESPN reported.
The Clippers had rejected a possible trade for Paul this week as too costly.
Neil Olshey, the team's vice president of basketball operations, told the Times he talked with the Hornets about Paul but the talks had ended by Monday.
"We entered into discussions with the New Orleans Hornets," Olshey said. "They proposed a trade we felt was too high for our team to accept."
The Clippers had been reluctant to part with Gordon, one of their budding young stars.
The NBA, which owns the Hornets, vetoed an earlier deal in which Paul would have been sent to the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Lakers backed out of a second attempt to swing a deal, the Times said.
