Donald, Bradley take PGA players' awards

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Briton Luke Donald nabbed the PGA Tour Player of the Year award Tuesday and Keegan Bradley earned the tour's Rookie of the Year nod.

Donald, 34, became the first Briton to be named the tour's top player since the award's inception in 1990. He took the Accenture Match Play Championship and the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic this year.

His victory in the season's final start at the Children's Miracle event enabled him to lock up this year's money title with $6.7 million.

"That's a great honor to cap off what has obviously been an amazing year for me," Donald said.

The 25-year-old Bradley, meanwhile, earned his "best rookie" credentials in part by notching two playoff victories, at the HP Byron Nelson Championship and the PGA Championship -- becoming the first rookie with two wins since Todd Hamilton (2004).

The Vermont native finished in the Top 10 four times in 29 starts, ending 20th on the final FedExCup points list.
