Boston U hockey player booted from team

BOSTON, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Star ice hockey forward Corey Trivino has been dismissed from Boston University following charges of a dorm room sexual assault, the school said Tuesday.

"He is no longer associated with the BU hockey team," Terriers Coach Jack Parker told The Daily Free Press student newspaper.

The Toronto native lost his passport after authorities charged him with groping a resident assistant early Monday in an incident at BU student housing, the newspaper said.

Suffolk County District Attorney spokesman Jake Wark said the senior -- the Terriers' leading goal scorer and first-line center -- pleaded not guilty and was released from jail but had to surrender his passport on $25,000 cash bail.

Police allege a "very intoxicated" Trivino broke into the woman's dorm room and tried to rape her. He faces one count of assault to rape and three counts of breaking and entering in the nighttime for felony, the Free Press reported.

The BU coach said Trivino had previously gone through three alcohol-related incidents with the team.

"There is no question in my mind it's an alcohol problem," Parker told the newspaper. "I did (ask him to get treatment), but he didn't think it was for him."
