VIRGINIA WATER, England, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- World No. 1 golfer Luke Donald completed a historic double, leading the money lists on both the PGA and European tours in 2011.

Donald piled up $6.68 million on the PGA Tour, more than $300,000 ahead of No. 2 Webb Simpson, and a third-place Sunday at the Dubai World Championship pushed his European Tour 2011 winnings to $7.1 million, about $1.8 million more than Rory McIlroy.

No other player has led both tours in winnings in the same year.

Donald won four tournaments this year, with the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship counting on both tours. A win in May the European Tour's BMW PGA Championship in England boosted him to the No. 1 world ranking.

He has remained the top-rated golfer in the world for 28 weeks, giving him the eighth-longest tenure at No. 1.

Donald has a rankings point average of 10.287, well ahead of McIlroy's 7.997. Lee Westwood (7.812) is third and Martin Kaymer (6.785) sits in fourth.

Adam Scott again switches places with Steve Stricker, with Scott (5.663) taking fifth and Stricker (5.555) in sixth.

Dustin Johnson (5.481) is seventh, with Jason Day (5.231), Simpson (5.147) and Matt Kuchar (4.901) completing the Top 10.

Alvaro Quiros, who won the Dubai World Championship, improves his ranking 31 places to No. 21.
