Vikings fullback Felton charged with DWI
NEW YORK, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Slugger Manny Ramirez has been cleared to come out of retirement by Major League Baseball.
Ramirez, 39, hung up his spikes in April after being handed a 100-game suspension for violation of baseball's drug policy.
That suspension has since been reduced to 50 games, which is the same number of games he sat out in his 2009 suspension.
The 2009 suspension brought the fun-filled "Mannywood" phenomenon and his tenure with the Los Angeles Dodgers to an abrupt halt. Ramirez, a 12-time All-Star, played briefly in Tampa last season and has a career .312 batting average with 555 home runs over 19 seasons.
The Rays said earlier they had no plans to bring Ramirez back, leaving him free to catch on with another club should there be any interest.
