WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Power-play scores in the second period by Tim Stapleton and Bryan Little gave Winnipeg a four-goal lead Friday and the Jets went on to down Carolina 4-2.

Winnipeg has won four in a row for the first time since moving this season from Atlanta to Manitoba.

Dustin Byfuglien scored 34 seconds into the game and Evander Kane added to Winnipeg's lead less than 5 minutes later, with his 15th goal of the season.

Chris Mason blanked the Hurricanes through two periods before giving up goals to Justin Faulk and Brandon Sutter during the final 20 minutes. Mason, making only his third start of the season, had 23 saves.

Cam Ward opened in goal for Carolina, but was removed after giving up four goals on 26 shots. Mike Murphy faced seven shots as his replacement and stopped them all.

Winnipeg opened the season by losing five out of six, but has moved into playoff contention with eight victories in its last 11 games.
