SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Ryane Clowe started a three-goal outburst in the span of 6 minutes of the second period Thursday that pushed the San Jose Sharks to a 5-2 victory over Dallas.
San Jose stunned the Stars with two goals in the game's first 1:22 only to have Dallas come back to tie it early in the second period.
The Sharks put the game away with three quick goals from Clowe, Brad Winchester and Torrey Mitchell. San Jose had lost its two previous games.
Dallas welcomed back team captain Brenden Morrow, who had not played since Nov. 21 due to an upper body injury. Morrow scored in his return to the ice, lifting Dallas into a short-lived 2-2 tie.
Antti Niemi made 19 saves for the Sharks. Dallas had only five shots in the second period while the Sharks were taking control.
Andrew Raycroft, continuing to fill in for the injury Kari Lehtonen, gave up five goals on 24 shots before being replaced by Richard Bachman. It was only the second NHL appearance for Bachman, who stopped all 12 shots he faced.
