EDMONTON, Alberta, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Jamie McBain gave Carolina the lead during a stretch of four straight goals by the Hurricanes Wednesday that lifted them to a 5-3 victory over Edmonton.
Carolina ended a seven-game losing streak and won for the eighth time this season, tying Anaheim and Columbus for the fewest victories in the league.
Jeff Skinner scored on the power play with 38 seconds left in the first period to create a 1-1 tie and McBain, Patrick Dwyer and Chad LaRose all scored during the first 16 minutes of the second to put the Hurricanes in control.
Carolina hadn't won since Nov. 21 in Philadelphia. This was its fourth victory in 18 games.
Cam Ward gave up a goal in each period and made 22 saves for the victory.
Devan Dubnyk gave up all five goals on 33 shots.
