Vikings fullback Felton charged with DWI
BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Claude Giroux finished off a four-point game by scoring with 2:23 to go in overtime Wednesday, giving the Philadelphia Flyers a 5-4 victory over Buffalo.
The Flyers overcame a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead late in the second period. Buffalo's Drew Stafford then tallied with 1:35 left in regulation to force overtime.
Giroux took control of the puck just inside the blue line and charged the Buffalo net. He beat Ryan Miller between the pads to give the Flyers their third straight victory.
Giroux assisted on all three of Philadelphia's second-period goals and his point total for the season climbed to 36, tops in the NHL.
Ville Leino, Zack Kassian and Thomas Vanek all scored for Buffalo in the opening period to seemingly put the Sabres in charge.
After Maxime Talbot scored for the Flyers with a single second left in the opening period, Matt Read, Scott Hartnell and Jaromir Jagr tallied in the second.
Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 20 shots overall to get the win. He gave up three goals on 13 shots in the opening period.
Miller was touched for five goals on 34 shots.
