TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Derek Stepan scored the go-ahead goal with 3:19 remaining in the third period Saturday and the streaking New York Rangers beat Tampa Bay 4-2.
The Lightning's Mathieu Garon made an acrobatic save on Artem Anisimov's wrap-around try following a face-off, but the puck came free in the crease where Stepan blasted it home to break a 2-2 tie.
Anisimov and Ruslan Fedotenko also scored and Brad Richards added an empty-netter for the Rangers, who logged their 12th win in 14 games and improved to 15-5-3 on the year.
Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 24-of-26 shots, corralling his ninth win in 10 starts for New York.
Steve Downie and Taylor Pyatt found the net for struggling Tampa Bay, which lost for the seventh time in 10 games.
Garon finished with 32 saves.
