PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Detroit Lions defensive end Ndamukong Suh was involved in a traffic accident early Saturday in his hometown of Portland, Ore., police said.

Suh, a graduate of Grant High School in Portland, cracked up his 1970 Chevrolet in downtown Portland around 1:15 a.m. PST.

"Officers learned that the driver, 24-year-old Ndamukong Suh of Portland, lost control of the car as he drove southbound on 3rd Avenue crossing Burnside and hit a curb, light pole, drinking fountain, and a tree," the Portland Police Bureau said in a written statement.

Suh and his two passengers escaped uninjured and Suh was described as "polite and cooperative with the officers."

There was no determination if alcohol was involved in the crash.

The NFL suspended Suh earlier this week for two games for kicking a Green Bay player during their game on Thanksgiving.
