BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Jakub Kindl ignited a three-goal first period Friday and Jimmy Howard took a shutout into the third to bring Detroit its seventh straight win, 4-1 over Buffalo.

Howard made 27 saves and had his shutout bid spoiled by Jochen Hecht's wrist shot with 6:13 remaining. Pavel Datsyuk added an empty-net goal with 1:17 to go.
Jhonas Enroth gave up three goals on 35 shots.
