Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MIAMI, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- The Miami Marlins have signed free agent Heath Bell to a three-year contract, a source told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
The Major League Baseball source told the newspaper the relief pitcher is guaranteed $9 million per year under the contract, which includes a vesting option for a fourth season.
The source said Bell will still need to pass a physical in Florida, which the source said could happen as early as Friday, before the deal becomes official.
The Marlins are also believed to be courting free agents including Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and C.J. Wilson, the Sun Sentinel said.
Bell previous played for the New York Mets (2004-06) and had been with the San Diego Padres since 2007.
