MOUNT PLEASANT, Ill., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A "huge Devin Hester fan" who did not recognize the Chicago Bears star when he slapped him at an Illinois casino pleaded guilty to battery. Frank Kostouros, defense attorney for Daniel Rago, 52, of Mount Prospect said his client did not recognize Hester when he confronted him at the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines Oct. 14, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.

The lawyer said Rago confronted Hester because he believed the football star had cut in the cashier's line when he had actually moved over to the VIP line. Rago slapped Hester across the back of his head and called him a "moron."
"He's a huge Bears fan and a huge Devin Hester fan. He feels very bad about what happened," Kostouros said.
Rago pleaded guilty to battery Thursday and Cook County Judge Marguerite Quinn sentenced him to a year conditional discharge, which the Sun-Times described as a form of probation, a $315 fine and 80 hours of community service.
Quinn also ordered Rago to undergo an anger management evaluation.
"He's just a suburban sports fan who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and he did something stupid," Kostouros said.
"He said he probably would have hugged Devin if he'd recognized him. He's a big fan."
