DECATUR, Ala., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Oakland Raiders middle linebacker Rolando McClain was charged with four misdemeanor counts Thursday after allegedly firing a gun during a fight.

Police in McClain's Alabama hometown of Decatur issued a statement saying charges included reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

The police report said McClain was involved in a fight that left the alleged victim bleeding from the nose and mouth. While the alleged victim was on the ground, the report said, McClain walked up to him and placed a gun to the man's head.

"The victim reported that he begged McClain not to shoot him and that McClain took the gun away from his head, held it next to his ear and fired it," the police report said.

McClain is in his second year with the Raiders, having started all 10 games this season. He was the eighth overall draft choice last year after winning the 2009 Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker.

He played collegiate football at the University of Alabama.
