MIAMI, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall was detained by authorities at Port Everglades Monday after an argument with a cab driver, a police report said.
A Broward County Sheriff's Office report said two cab drivers accused Marshall of ditching a $142 cab fare at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and getting into another cab, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Thursday.
Marshall, who was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car at about 7 a.m. Monday while deputies sorted out the situation, told sheriff's deputies he was at a party at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach and had gotten into a cab to go home. He fell asleep and when he awoke, he was at the airport instead of his house.
The police report said Marshall argued with the cab driver, and then got out of the car, went into the terminal then exited another door to get into a different cab.
The second driver took Marshall to the port and flagged down deputies.
Marshall was released after he agreed to pay both cab drivers, the report said.
