CHICAGO, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Free agent outfielder David DeJesus and the Chicago Cubs came to terms Wednesday on a two-year deal reported to be worth $10 million.
The terms of the contract weren't announced, but MLB.com reported it will pay DeJesus $4.25 million each of the next two years, with the Cubs holding an option or a third year at $6.5 million or a $1.5 million buyout.
The versatile DeJesus, 31, played for the Oakland Athletics last season after being a member of the Kansas City Royals from 2004-2010.
He batted in every position in the lineup for Oakland, compiling a .240 average with 10 home runs and 46 RBI, while posting a .984 fielding percentage with only four errors in 250 total chances.
DeJesus has a career batting average of .284, to go with 207 doubles, 50 triples, 71 home runs, 436 RBI and a .356 on-base percentage in 1,007 games for the Royals and A's.
