INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Dan Orlovsky, a seventh-year pro who hasn't started a game since 2008, will start at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts this week, Coach Jim Caldwell said.

The Colts will take an 0-11 record into a game Sunday at New England, which is tied for the best record in the AFC at 8-3.

Orlovsky steps in for Chris Painter, who started eight games this season for Indianapolis. Painter completed 132-of-243 passes for 1,541 yards and six touchdowns. He was also intercepted nine times.

"Curtis Painter will not start this game, Dan Orlovsky will," Jim Caldwell said Tuesday. "I think he's a guy that certainly is comfortable within the framework of the system. He's got a nice, strong arm and we're anticipating that he's going to be accurate as well, and that's key."

Orlovsky was drafted in the fifth round by the Detroit Lions in 2005 and has seen only spot playing time since. All seven of his previous NFL starts came for Detroit in 2008, a season the Lions went 0-16. He's 164-of-293 passing for 1,801 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions in his career.
