DENVER, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Andrew Raycroft made 35 saves Monday and the Dallas Stars snapped a four-game road losing streak with a 3-1 win over Colorado.
Raycroft -- pressed into service when starting goalie Kari Lehtonen was lost to a groin injury -- responded with a strong performance, especially in the second period when turned aside all 16 shots he saw.
Raycroft broke a seven-game personal losing streak and backstopped the Stars to only their third win in 10 games.
Eric Nystrom's first-period goal stood up until less than 6 minutes were left in regulation, when Michael Ryder netted an insurance tally.
Ryder added an empty-netter and Loui Eriksson contributed a pair of assists.
Kevin Porter scored and Semyon Varlamov made 32 saves for the Avalanche, which fell to 2-3 on an eight-game homestand.
