Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DETROIT, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Valtteri Filppula netted two goals and added an assist Saturday in the Detroit Red Wings' 4-1 decision over Nashville.
Filppula's power-play goal in the first period gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead, while his second -- a tip-in of a Jiri Hudler blast -- handed Detroit a 3-0 advantage midway through the middle frame.
In between, he assisted on Henrik Zetterberg's score and Dan Cleary also found the net as the Red Wings notched a season-high fifth straight win.
Jimmy Howard turned aside 18-of-19 shots to earn the victory.
Jack Hillen tallied the Predators' only goal and Pekka Rinne made 33 saves for Nashville.
