Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Brian Elliott recorded his third shutout of the season Friday by making 24 saves and carrying the St. Louis Blues to a 2-0 win over Calgary.
Elliott, in his fifth NFL season and his first with the Blues, has 12 shutouts in his career. He helped bring St. Louis its second straight win and its fifth victory in seven outings.
The St. Louis goaltender came into the game leading the league in save percentage (.951) and goals-against average (1.34).
David Backes gave St. Louis the lead with a shorthanded goal midway through the opening period and the other score came from Alex Pietrangelo with 6:43 to go in the third.
Calgary lost its third straight. Miikka Kiprusoff allowed the two goals on 24 shots.
