DENVER, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Patrick Marleau registered a hat trick Sunday and the San Jose Sharks won for the 11th time in 14 games, besting Colorado 4-1.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic added three assists and Joe Thornton chipped in with two helpers as San Jose stayed hot following a slow start to the season.

Goalie Thomas Greiss turned in a strong performance, stopping 14 shots in each of the second and third periods en route to a 36-save performance.

Matt Duchene got Colorado's only score and Jean-Sebastien Giguere let in three goals on 17 shots.

The Avalanche fell to 2-7-1 in November with the loss.
