SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Alex Smith's two touchdown passes Sunday lifted the San Francisco 49ers to their eighth straight victory, a 23-7 spanking of Arizona.
Smith hurled for 267 yards, hooking up with Kyle Williams and Vernon Davis on third-quarter scoring strikes to break the game open and give the 49ers their longest winning streak since 1997.
David Akers kicked three first-half field goals for San Francisco (9-1).
John Skelton was held to 6-of-19 through the air for 99 yards and was picked off three times for the Cardinals (3-7).
He was replaced by Richard Bartel in the fourth quarter, who tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Larry Fitzgerald.
