UNIONDALE, N.Y., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Tim Thomas turned in 23 saves for his second shutout of the season Saturday in streaking Boston's 6-0 romp over the New York Islanders.

Chris Kelly had two goals and an assist for the Bruins, who extended their winning streak to eight games, two of which came at the Islanders' expense.

Boston racked up three goals in the first period and added three more in the third to put the game away. Patrice Bergeron, Nathan Horton, Andrew Ference and Zdeno Chara chalked up the other Bruins goals.

New York fell for the fifth time in their last six games. Rick DiPietro allowed three goals on 13 shots in the first period. He was replaced by Anders Nilsson, who came through the second period unscathed but was then lit up for three goals in the final period.
