CHICAGO, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- The Chicago Cubs talked to new Manager Dale Sveum "a lot" about the possibility of luring Prince Fielder to the team, General Manager Jed Hoyer said.

The GM, asked Friday about the possibility of the Milwaukee Brewers' free-agent slugger following Sveum to Chicago, said Sveum "speaks incredibly highly" of Fielder, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"We talked about [Fielder] a lot all during the interview process -- all very positive," Hoyer said. "One of the things he likes most about Prince is, as everyone sees, this guy plays hard, runs every ball out every single day. That's not something a lot of superstars can say. He does that. As far as him coming to Chicago, I won't comment, but they have a great relationship."

Sveum, 47, takes the helm as Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts tries to turn around the team for next season.

Sveum dismissed a report he was interested in bringing on Robin Yount as bench coach.

"He's my best friend in the world but that's not going to happen," Sveum said.
