BOSTON, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- David Krejci produced the deciding goal in the third round of a shootout Thursday, boosting Boston to a 2-1 decision over Columbus.
After winning just three of their first 10 games this season, the defending Stanley Cup champion Bruins have won seven in a row. The last five victories came on a now-completed homestand.
Both Rich Peverley of Boston and Mark Letestu of Columbus scored in the second shootout round, after which Krejci put a wrist shot past Curtis Sanford. Tuukka Rask then stopped Antoine Vermette on the last chance for the Blue Jackets.
Columbus has the worst record in the NHL, having won just three times in 18 games.
The Blue Jackets took the lead on a power-play goal by Derek MacKenzie 2:49 into the second period, but defenseman Adam McQuaid tied it 1:45 later.
It was the first goal of the season for McQuaid and only his fifth in a three-year career that has spanned 98 games.
Rask made 30 saves and Sanford stopped 26 shots.
