PITTSBURGH, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said Tuesday he has re-broken the troublesome thumb on his throwing hand but will still make his next start.
The signal-caller first injured his right thumb in 2005 and has continued to play despite aggravating the injury at various times. He has worn a protective sleeve on his thumb in past seasons when the pain flared up, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
Roethlisberger told reporters Tuesday he had "refractured" the thumb.
"How it happened, I don't remember," he said.
But he added it won't affect his play and he'll be ready for his next start, which will come Nov. 27 in Kansas City after the Steelers enjoy a bye week.
The newspaper said players will have four days off beginning Thursday and will resume practices Monday.
