Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Cal Clutterbuck capped a Minnesota comeback with a go-ahead goal in the third period Tuesday, sending the Wild to a 4-2 win over Columbus.
Trailing 2-0 after the first period, Minnesota got goals from Matt Cullen and Nick Johnson within 20 seconds of each other in the middle frame to forge a tie.
Then 7:38 into the final period Pierre-Marc Bouchard carried the puck down the right side and sent a backhand pass to Clutterbuck, who unleashed a one-timer that beat Steve Mason.
Devin Setoguchi added an empty-netter for the Northwest Division-leading Wild, who won for the seventh time in nine games.
Niklas Backstrom made 43 saves, including 17 in the third period, to earn the victory.
Antoine Vermette and Mark Letestu scored and Mason finished with 20 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have lost six of their last eight.
