
RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Claude Giroux scored two goals and the Philadelphia Flyers allowed only 20 Carolina shots Monday in their 5-3 victory over the Hurricanes.
Giroux notched his 10th and 11th goals of the season, with the second coming 2:45 into the second period for a 3-1 lead. He also added an assist.
Max Talbot, Wayne Simmonds and Matt Read also found the net as the Flyers took their third win in four games and forged a tie with Pittsburgh atop the Atlantic Division.
Sergei Bobrovsky only had to make 17 saves for the win.
Patrick Dwyer tallied two shorthanded goals -- including one on a penalty shot -- and Tuomo Ruutu also scored as Carolina lost for the fifth time in six contests.
Cam Ward was yanked in the second period after yielding four goals on 17 shots. Brian Boucher came in and turned aside 10-of-11 shots the rest of the way.
