OTTAWA, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Second-period goals by Erik Cole and Andrei Kostitsyn stood up Friday to bring the Montreal Canadiens their fourth consecutive win, 2-1 over Ottawa.
Montreal's current surge has come after it had won just once in its first eight games.
The game was scoreless deep into the second period, but Cole broke the tie with 6:05 to go and Kostitsyn added a goal 2:59 later.
Zack Smith scored shorthanded for the Senators 1:08 into the third period, but Carey Price held on the rest of the way while making 33 saves.
Price has been in goal for all of Montreal's four straight victories.
The loss went to Craig Anderson, who made 24 saves. The Senators have dropped two in a row.
