MOSCOW, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- World No. 2-ranked Petra Kvitova was chosen to open the Fed Cup final for the Czech Republic against Russia's Maria Kirilenko in Moscow.
Kvitova, who is 58-13 with six tournament championships in 2011, is 4-0 in Fed Cup play this year. She is 0-2 in her career against Kirilenko but they haven't played since 2009.
They will kick off the best-of-five Fed Cup finals Saturday with the Czech Republic's Lucie Safarova going against Svetlana Kuznetsova in the second singles match.
Sunday's schedule opens with Kvitova meeting Kuznetsova and Safarova facing Kirilenko.
The fifth match, also Sunday, is doubles with Czechs Lucie Hradecka and Kveta Peschke playing Russians Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Elena Vesnina.
All the matches will be played on an indoor hard court at Moscow's Olympic Stadium.
Russia will be without its two highest ranked women players. World No. 3 Vera Zvonareva withdrew Friday because of a shoulder injury and No. 4-ranked Maria Sharapova is out due to an ankle problem.
The Czechs are looking for their sixth Fed Cup title but first since 1988, when they played as a part of Czechoslovakia and beat the Soviet Union in the final.
Russia has won the Fed Cup four times -- all in the last eight years. Kuznetsova won a pair of matches versus Spain in helping Russia to the 2008 title, the country's most recent win.
