BASEL, Switzerland, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Home-country favorites Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka won in straight sets Friday and moved into the semifinals of the Swiss Indoors tennis tournament.
Federer and Wawrinka are paired against each other in Saturday's semifinals, guaranteeing a Swiss player in Sunday's title match.
Federer, seeded third, rolled by seventh-seeded Andy Roddick 6-3, 6-2 in just more than an hour. Federer won 79 percent of the points on serve, losing 10 points in the nine games he served.
Wawrinka didn't face a break point in a 6-2, 6-2 romp over Florian Mayer. He lost nine points in eight games he served despite landing 39 percent of his first serves.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was pushed to three sets for the second time in three matches but defeated Marcos Baghdatis 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 and Kei Nishikori held off Mikhail Kukushkin for a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 victory that took more than 2 1/2 hours in Friday's other quarterfinal matches.
