VALENCIA, Spain, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Sam Querrey ousted second-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets Thursday in taking a quarterfinal spot at the Valencia Open 500 tennis tournament in Spain.

Querrey advanced to the tournament quarterfinals against sixth-seeded Juan Martin del Potro, who finished the day's schedule with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Kevin Anderson. Del Potro also won almost 75 percent of the points on serve and countered on dropped serve with three breaks.
