Vikings fullback Felton charged with DWI

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Royals announced Monday they have picked up their 2012 club option on closer Joakim Soria.
Soria was rewarded with the $6 million deal despite a sub-par 2011 season in which he went 28-of-35 in save opportunities with a 4.03 earned run average -- by far the highest ERA of his career.
The right-hander will be in the fourth year of a six-year contract he signed with the Royals in May 2008. The club has an $8 million option on the 27-year-old in 2013 and an $8.75 million option for the following year, MLB.com reported.
The Royals could have declined the 2012 option for a $750,000 buyout.
Soria has logged 160 saves in 180 opportunities for Kansas City since his rookie year in 2007.
