SUNRISE, Fla., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Evander Kane scored the tying goal with 50 seconds left in regulation time Monday and the Winnipeg Jets went on to defeat Florida 4-3 in a shootout.
The Panthers had taken a 3-2 lead on Tomas Fleischmann's second goal of the game -- a power-play marker on a rebound with 2:10 remaining the third period. The Jets scored the equalizer with time running out when Kyle Wellwood deflected Zack Bogosian's shot to Kane, who swung his stick like a baseball bat and swatted it past Jose Theodore for his second tally of the night.
The goal was upheld after a video review determined neither Wellwood nor Kane had played the puck with a high stick.
Andrew Ladd and Wellwood then beat Theodore in the shootout to notch Winnipeg's second win in three road games.
Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 39-of-42 shots to earn the victory.
Jason Garrison scored and Theodore finished with 28 saves for the Panthers.
