NHL: Philadelphia 5, Carolina 1

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Jaromir Jagr scored twice during a four-goal outburst in the third period Saturday that lifted the Philadelphia Flyers to a 5-1 victory over Carolina.

Jagr's tally just 39 seconds into the final frame broke a 1-1 tie and ignited the offensive flurry for the Flyers.

Max Talbot made it 3-1 on a shorthanded goal 5:46 into the period and Claude Giroux followed with another just 2 minutes later.

Jagr's second goal with 7 1/2 minutes left in the game completed the scoring as the Flyers won for the 15th time in 18 meetings with Hurricanes.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 24-of-25 shots to earn the victory.

Jussi Jokinen scored and Brian Boucher was tagged for five goals on 34 shots for Carolina.
