GLENDALE, Ariz., Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Ray Whitney started and finished a stretch of four unanswered goals Thursday, sending the Phoenix Coyotes to a 5-3 decision over New Jersey.
The Devils owned a 2-1 lead in the second period when Whitney began the offensive surge with a power-play goal. Raffi Torres put the Coyotes in front with 49 seconds left in the middle period.

Martin Hanzal increased the lead 12:16 into the third and Whitney added a goal 2:10 later, his fifth of the season.
Mike Smith made 31 saves in helping end a three-game home losing streak for the Coyotes.
New Jersey has dropped three out of four. Johan Hedberg turned aside 42 shots for the Devils.
