CEDAR HILL, Texas, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said Tuesday he and his wife, former TV sports anchor Candice Crawford, are expecting their first child.

Romo made the announcement while speaking to a group of high school students in Cedar Hill, Texas, KDFW-TV, Dallas-Fort Worth, reported.

The signal-caller was asked while speaking as part of a drug prevention campaign at Cedar Hill High School if he had kids of his own, and he responded, "I got one on the way. My wife's pregnant."

Romo and Candice Crawford Romo, a former Miss Missouri, were married five months ago, following his break-up with singer and actress Jessica Simpson.

The news came as Simpson was also the subject of pregnancy rumors, People magazine said. The publication ran a photo of her arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport Monday in which she appeared pregnant, fueling speculation Simpson and fashion industry fiancee Eric Johnson are soon to be parents themselves.
