BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Steven Stamkos scored the go-ahead goal in the second period Tuesday, helping rally the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 victory over Buffalo.
Two Buffalo scores within the first 2 1/2 minutes of the game had given the Sabres a quick lead, but Tampa Bay stormed back, logging the next four goals en route to their third straight win.
Vincent Lecavalier and Nate Thompson each found the net before the initial period was over, pulling Tampa Bay even.
Stamkos then put the Bolts ahead to stay early in the second when he tipped in a Matt Gilroy shot.
Ryan Malone added an insurance goal on a breakaway with 1:23 left in the game and Mathieu Garon turned aside 36-of-39 shots -- including 16-of-17 in the final period -- to record the victory.
Thomas Vanek, Brad Boyes and Nathan Gerbe scored, and Ryan Miller made 19 stops for the Sabres.
