ISTANBUL, Turkey, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The Women's Tennis Association has extended the contract of Chief Executive Officer Stacey Allaster through 2017, the WTA board of directors said Monday.

Financial terms of the deal weren't released but the agreement makes Allaster the second-longest serving CEO at WTA. She assumed her current post on July 2009 and the contract extension is through 2017.

"I am honored to continue to lead women's tennis and work with the world's best female athletes on continuously improving our fans' experience," Allaster said in a statement from the WTA.

"Together with our players, tournaments, lead global sponsor Sony Ericsson and our roster of world-class partners, my management team and I plan on building on our great momentum to service our fans, sponsors and members."

Since she has been CEO, the WTA has increased prizes, which totaled $90 million this year, more by 36 percent. Purses are expected to be at least $96 million in 2012.

The WTA also announced a 12 percent increase in attendance in 2011 at its premier events over 2010 ticket sales.
